Sandyford Business District Active Travel Schemes

Location: Sandyford, Co. Dublin
Services: Tree Inventory - Arboricultural Impact Assessment - Tree Management Strategy - Tree Planting Plan
Year: 2024–2025

TreeSpace was appointed to provide arboricultural consultancy services for two complementary transport improvement projects in the Sandyford Business District: the M50 Junction 14 Link Road and the Sandyford Pedestrian & Cycle Routes Improvement Scheme.

Both schemes form part of the Local Authority’s ongoing investment in active travel and sustainable mobility, enhancing pedestrian and cycling connectivity through one of Dublin’s largest employment hubs. TreeSpace undertook a detailed tree inventory for both schemes, and provided a BS 5837:2012 arboricultural impact assessment, and construction-stage protection strategies to inform the design and protect the area’s urban tree resource.

Across both schemes, over 400 trees were assessed, with a strong emphasis on retaining high-quality trees and identifying opportunities for replacement and new planting in line with DLRCC’s Trees and Urban Forest Strategy (2021–2031). The works demonstrate how green infrastructure and transport upgrades can progress together to create safer, greener, and more attractive transport networks in Sandyford.
